How to Watch IPTV on VLC: M3U on PC, Mac & Phone
In this guide
How do I watch IPTV on VLC?
Open VLC, choose Media › Open Network Stream on Windows (File › Open Network on Mac), paste your M3U playlist link and press Play. VLC loads the channel list into its playlist window; double-click a channel to watch. On iPhone and Android, use Network Stream in the VLC app. VLC does not accept Xtream Codes logins.
Before you start
- VLC from videolan.org or your app store
- Your M3U playlist link (ask us for the M3U version of your login)
Windows and Linux
- Open VLC › Media › Open Network Stream (Ctrl+N).
- Paste the M3U link and click Play.
- Open View › Playlist (Ctrl+L) to see all channels.
Mac
- Open VLC › File › Open Network (⌘N).
- Paste the link, click Open.
- Window › Playlist to browse channels.
iPhone and Android
- Open the VLC app › Network › Open Network Stream (Stream on Android).
- Paste the M3U link and tap Open.
Save the playlist for next time
On a computer, once the channels load, use Media › Save Playlist to File. Next time, open that file and the list appears instantly.
Fixes
- Nothing loads: copy the M3U link again in one piece, with no space at the end.
- Slow with thousands of channels: type in the playlist search box to filter.
- No guide: VLC has none. For a TV guide, use Axon Player or another IPTV app.
VLC questions
Is VLC good for IPTV?
For a quick check, yes. For daily viewing, an IPTV app with a guide and catch-up is better. See the VLC review.
